Experience & Education

My career spans agricultural research and engineering across government, academia, and industry.

My Journey

Timeline of Worasit Sangjan’s education and career from agricultural engineering studies in 2003 through industry, graduate research, and an ORISE postdoctoral fellowship at USDA-ARS

Research Experience

2025-present

ORISE Postdoctoral Research Fellow

USDA-ARS · Prosser, Washington

Study vineyard microclimates and cold hardiness, apply computer vision to weed detection and plant phenotyping, and conduct synchrotron microCT experiments and leaf tissue segmentation.

2024-2025

ORISE Postdoctoral Research Fellow

USDA-ARS · Columbia, Missouri

Developed MatchPlant and studied how AI can integrate phenotypic, genomic, and environmental data to support plant breeding.

2023-2024

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Washington State University

Improved AGIcam for automated field phenotyping and yield prediction in wheat breeding trials.

2018-2023

Graduate Research Assistant

Washington State University

Conducted high-throughput crop phenotyping using satellite and UAV imagery, proximal sensors, IoT systems, and machine learning.

2022

Applied Agricultural Technology Intern

Corteva Agriscience · Iowa

Worked on automated soil trace gas collection and gas flux analysis in corn fields.

From 2007 to 2018, I held engineering and industry roles at Sony, Siam Kubota, Munters, and John Deere, working in manufacturing, technical service, agricultural equipment, and climate-control systems.
